The Rothschild family’s involvement in winemaking commenced on 8th August, 1868, when Baron James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite, the world famous property in Pauillac, Bordeaux.
Under Baron Eric de Rothschild, les Domaines Barons de Rothschild has expanded wine production to include its Bordeaux properties, Châteaux Duhart-Milon, l’Evangile, Lafite & Rieussec, Domaine d’Aussières (Corbières, France), Bodegas Caro (Mendoza, Argentina) , Viña los Vascos (Colchagua, Chile) and its new project in Penglai (Shandong, China).
All of the DBR (Lafite) wines in this list are supervised by Eric Kohler, who seeks to make wines which are long and elegant or as DBR (Lafite)’s president, Christophe Salin, says, “We like to make wines that are like a peck on the cheek, as opposed to a poke in the eye!”
